What are the health benefits of drinking carrot and beetroot juice?

Apart from keeping you hydrated, carrot and beetroot juice has many health benefits. Here are some:

1. Improves heart health

Carrot and beetroot juice may support heart health by helping to lower blood pressure, says the expert. This can happen, as the nitrates in beetroot can widen blood vessels.

2. Combats inflammation

The juice is packed with antioxidants from both beetroots and carrots. So, it may help to combat oxidative stress and inflammation in the body.

3. Improves digestion

Beetroot and carrot juice contains fiber that supports digestive health. It can aid in regular bowel movements and promote a healthy gut.

4. Boosts immunity

The combination of nutrients, including vitamins A and C, in this juice can contribute to a strengthened immune system. It can help the body to fight off infections.

5. Enhances stamina

Nitrates in beetroots may improve exercise performance by increasing oxygen flow to muscles. They may potentially enhance endurance during physical activities, says Singhwal.

6. Detoxification

Both beetroot and carrot contain compounds that may support liver function. They aid in the detoxification process and promote overall body cleansing.

• Strain the mixture and enjoy a fresh, homemade juice.

While carrot and beetroot juice can be consumed daily, moderation is key. Drink one glass of it in a day. Excessive consumption may lead to digestive issues or an increase in blood sugar levels. It may also cause beeturia, which is a harmless condition where urine turns pink, says the expert.

Who should avoid this juice?

People with kidney issues or a history of kidney stones should limit oxalate-rich foods like beetroot. Those prone to allergies should also monitor reactions.
